Overview
We are seeking an experienced facility operator with a passion for snow sports to help us deliver our vision of creating a winter sports centre of excellence that promotes community participation in recreation and sport. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with significant operational experience of managing a snow sports centre or sports / leisure complex. Appropriate knowledge of snow sports in the UK would be preferable, alongside a ski instructor qualification of Level 2 or above. The Role
- Have a strategic overview of the business and manage all aspects of the operations.
- Oversee and be responsible for all business finance including income and expenditure, annual projections, budgets, plan and manage cashflow.
- Be responsible for the health and safety of customers and staff and work with our external Health and Safety advisors, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Drive the business forward, exploring opportunities for growth and diversification.
- Ensure the level of instruction provided on the slopes is first class and instructors are encouraged to continually develop through training and mentoring.
- Support the Maintenance Team to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the slopes and surrounding areas.
- Work closely with the Bookings Manager to maximise sales opportunities.
- Create quarterly reports as required for the CEO and Board Directors.
- Provide strong and effective leadership to the teams.
- Uphold and demonstrate the company values.
- Work closely with the RLT Marketing Team to maximise The Hill’s on all matters associated with advertising and promotion
Essential Skills
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of running a ski / leisure centre
- Possess and demonstrate creative leadership qualities
- Proven planning and organisational skills
- Strong budget management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with staff, freelancers and customers.
- Must be able to work with ones’ own initiative as well as a wider team with common objectives.
- A knowledge of current ski instructing/coaching methods will be necessary to work with all the freelance instructors and staff instructors
- Experience and an understanding of running a community focussed business.
- Create and deliver training sessions for instructor/coach education.
- A sound practical knowledge of IT including Microsoft 365
- Excellent network and partnership working skills
Desirable skills
- Instructor qualifications in skiing and / or snowboarding
- Fundraising and bid writing experience
- A knowledge of the site facilities e.g. ski tows, misting systems and matting etc
- A network of contacts within snow sports
- Experience of working with National Governing Bodies of Sport
- A knowledge of the history of Ski Rossendale and Rossendale Leisure Trust.
