Rossendale Borough Council have been working in partnership with the Edenfield Village Residents Association and local Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities on a project to create a new pump track in Edenfield

The track, designed and constructed by Velosolutions UK, was opened to the public on 30 March and is designed to be both a playground and a training facility for bikers, skateboarders or scooter riders of all skill levels. Users can practice very basic skills like improving balance and building speed, or they can try more challenging jumps and tricks on the track too.

Dave McChesney Green Spaces Manager from Rossendale Borough Council told us ‘’We’re really pleased the track is now open, and I’m certain that the local residents and people from surrounding areas will enjoy meeting, playing, cycling and socialising here over the coming months.

“After the isolation and devastation of the Covid 19 health crisis, it’s wonderful to be able to provide community facilities that will encourage children to get out in the fresh air, get healthy, and have fun once again.’’

A local resident, and a member of the Edenfield Village Residents Association said: ‘’We’re extremely grateful to both the Lancashire Environment Fund and Rossendale Borough Council for funding the new facility. The track will allow children and new riders the opportunity to have fun and practice their cycling skills somewhere safe and local before gaining their confidence and, perhaps in the future, moving off the track and out on to the trails that run throughout the beautiful Rossendale countryside too.’’
