With local elections due to take place on Thursday 5 May, have you ever considered standing as a councillor yourself?

Rossendale Council comprises 36 elected Councillors representing 14 Wards across the Borough. Councillors are elected to serve a 4 year term with elections covering one third of the seats taking place every year.

If you would like to stand as a candidate and help make a difference to your local community you can contact Electoral Services to request a nomination pack. They will be able to give you more information about standing and advise you on your next steps.

The nomination period will be open from 9.00am on Tuesday 29 March 2022 and will close at 4.00pm on Tuesday 5 April 2022. You can also obtain more information and the necessary forms from the Electoral Commission.

And don’t forget to register to vote to ensure you have your say.

Registered voters will be sent a poll card between the end of March and early April. If you have not received a poll card by 8 April 2022, or you have recently moved, you may not be registered to vote.

You can register to vote online or contact Electoral Services and request a paper copy of the form. The deadline to register to vote at these elections is midnight on Thursday 14 April 2022.
