Improvements to be made to Fairview Recreation Ground

Rossendale Borough Council are working alongside Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities on a project to improve the Fairview Recreation Ground and Play Area in Rawtenstall.

The team have recently published a public consultation survey to find out what people currently like about the area, and what changes they would like to see made across the site too.

Cllr Christine Gill from Rossendale Borough Council told us ‘’Fairview Recreation Ground and Play Area is a big outdoor space that serves communities in Rawtenstall. The area is well used by people who live very close by but we think that, with some improvement, the site could reach its full potential offering better play and recreational facilities. We want all of our green spaces to be wonderful assets that enhance the wellbeing, and the sense of belonging and community for residents, and we’re excited to find out what people think should be included in the new masterplan.’’

Once the public have shared their feedback about the proposals, a design will be created and fundraising work will begin.

Martin Proffitt from Proffitts told us ‘’This is a long-term improvement plan, but residents already have some great suggestions for developing the recreation area and the play area. However, we really would encourage as many people as possible to look at the survey and let us know what they think. The team want to make sure that they get the design right for people, so any ideas and suggestions from current residents and users are really important to us.’’
