May saw Councillor Judith Driver nominated at Mayor for 2024/25.
Friday 17th May 2024 - Annual Council Meeting
Councillor Judith Driver was installed as Mayor for the upcoming Municipal Year 2024/25, and will be accompanied throughout her year by her consort and husband Mr Ian Driver.
Annual Meeting was attending by Councillors (past and present), Honorary Alderman, Former Mayor’s, as well as Judith’s friends and family.
The Mayor has lived in Rossendale for all of her life, born in Bacup, to a farming family. The Mayor has been a Rossendale Borough Councillor for 15 years, and is looking forward to the next instalment of her councillor career, serving Rossendale as Mayor.
Saturday 18th May 2024
The Mayor kicked off her year with an invitation to the Spring Concert being held at Lumb Baptist Church. The Mayor was joined by Councillor Michelle Smith on this occasion, and they both enjoyed some excellent music, performed by Water Village Band.
The concert was held in order to raise money for a Defibrillator for the village, which is to be placed outside of the church. The event successfully raised a fantastic amount of £750, towards this worthy cause.
Sunday 19th May 2024
The Mayor had the pleasure of attending Dansworks Dance Academy of Performing Arts Awards Presentation, held at The Circle in Bacup.
The Mayor was joined by Councillor Danielle Ashworth in celebrating the achievements of all the young people that are a part of Dansworks. It was a fabulous afternoon, which showcased the dedication and commitment of all the students and staff involved.

The Mayor and Consort attending the opening of Trickett’s Insurance Brokers new offices on Bank Street.
Saturday 25th Mayor 2024
The Mayor and Consort attending the Annual Garden Open Day hosted by Dawn Taylor. Dawn had organised this event to raise money for Royal National Lifeboat Institution who are
celebrating their 200th year of inception. The Mayor and Consort enjoyed an array of lawn ponds, a woodland walk, a stream and a variety of shrubs, trees, vegetables and plants, together with accompanying wildlife; they were also delighted to be able to open the newly developed vegetable area.

"As you can see it was a busy first week as Mayor of Rossendale, which I’m sure is a good sign of things to come. I am looking forward to getting out in the community and joining you all at your charity events, school fairs, business openings and much more."
