September was a busy month for the Mayor of Rossendale, with a range of events that showcased Rossendale’s strong community spirit and dedication to important causes.

From charity fundraisers and cultural festivals to significant civic ceremonies, the Mayor’s engagements reflected the diversity and heart of Rossendale’s local life. Here’s a look back at some of the key highlights from the month.

Tuesday 3rd September  

Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival 

The Ramsbottom Jigsaw Festival was first held in 2014 and has become an annual event. Over the years the Jigsaw Festival has raised over £60,000, divided equally between Edenfield Parish Church and St Paul’s Church. The Mayor and Consort attended to open the event which runs for a number of days. There was a huge display of assembled Jigsaw Puzzles for visitors to see and each of the jigsaws on display were available to purchase so visitors could take them home and tackle the task of completing the puzzle themselves. Mayor at a jigsaw event looking at jigsaws

Thursday 5th September 2024 

Tesco Hospice Fundraising Cheque Presentation 

The Mayor and Consort joined the community champions from Tesco at their celebration event, held at Sunnybank Social Club. Local Tesco stores had been raising money for a number of local hospices, including Rossendale Hospice, and had successfully raised an amazing £30,000

Saturday 7th September 2024 

Rossendale 60s Festival 

The Mayor attended Rossendale 60s Festival in Rawtenstall Town Centre. The Mayor had the pleasure of visiting a number of stalls on the town square, along with the High Sheriff of Lancashire, Helen Bingley OBE JP DL; and also had the unenviable task, alongside the High Sheriff and Andy MacNae, MP, of judging the 60s fancy dress competition – they were all so great!

Sunday 8th September 2024 

The Installation of Rev’d Joseph Kennedy as Bishop of Burnley. 

The Mayor then joined civic leaders at Blackburn Cathedral for the installation of Rev’d Joseph Kennedy as the 12th Bishop of Burnley. The ceremony was a momentous occasion, with representatives from across Lancashire coming together to celebrate this significant milestone.  

Monday 9th September 2024 

Farming in Ribble Valley Event 

The Mayor and her guest, joined other civics across Lancashire to attend the Farming in Ribble Valley event run by NFU Mutual. The event showcased local farmers who discussed local produce made in the region.

Friday 20th September 2024 

Beacon Dementia Information Event 

The Mayor and Consort visited the Dementia Awareness Event held at Futures Park, which had been organised by Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing. This was the third annual awareness event to take place; where Health and Social Care partners can showcase their services to other organisations and members of the public.

Sunday 29th September 2024 

Latte Lounge Charity Afternoon Tea 

The Mayor and Consort joined owners and guests at the Latte Lounge in Rawtenstall for their Charity Afternoon Tea Event. The Latte Lounge are hosting a series of monthly fund raising events for local charities, and on this occasion were raising money for the Shine on Project.
