Saturday, 2nd November 2024: Celebrating 60 Years of the Rossendale Civic Trust
I had the honour of attending the 60th Anniversary Dinner of the Rossendale Civic Trust at the Masonic Hall, Rawtenstall. The evening included a fascinating presentation of the organisation’s achievements over the decades, showcasing their dedication to preserving and enhancing our local heritage.
8th-10th November 2024: Remembrance Services
This year’s Remembrance weekend was as moving as ever. I attended services in Stacksteads, Edenfield, Helmshore, Haslingden, and Bacup, while the Deputy Mayor represented the borough at Rawtenstall. It was a privilege to stand alongside our residents to honour the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Friday, 15th November 2024: Mayor of Ribble Valley Charity Dinner
I was delighted to support the Mayor of Ribble Valley at their Charity Dinner at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel. The event raised funds for two vital causes: The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and the North West Air Ambulance. The evening was a testament to the generosity and community spirit of our neighbouring borough.
Sunday, 17th November 2024: Dansworks Dance Academy Awards
Celebrating the achievements of our young people is always a highlight. At the Dansworks Dance Academy Awards held at Trinity Baptist Church, I presented certificates and medals to students who excelled in their exams earlier this year. Watching their excitement and pride was a joy.
Thursday, 21st November 2024: Recipe 4 Health Awards
Rawtenstall Market hosted the Recipe 4 Health Awards, a wonderful initiative by Lancashire County Council to promote healthy living. Presenting awards to the winners was a reminder of how community-driven efforts can lead to meaningful change in health and wellbeing.
Saturday, 23rd November 2024: A Festive and Charitable Day
The festive season kicked off at Christ with St John’s Church Christmas Fayre, where I enjoyed meeting residents and browsing the delightful stalls. Later, I attended the Mayor of Burnley’s Civic Ball, which raised funds for Pendleside Hospice and Community Outreach. The event was a fantastic display of charity and community spirit.
Wednesday, 27th November 2024: Lancashire Day Reception
Celebrating Lancashire Day at County Hall in Preston was a moment of great pride. With the Lancashire Flag raised and the Day Proclamation read, it was a privilege to join other Lancashire Mayors, the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, and the High Sheriff in honoring our county’s heritage.
Saturday, 30th November 2024: The R-Awards 2024
The month concluded on a high note with the R-Awards Ceremony at The Ashcroft, Whitworth. These awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of local people and businesses throughout the year. Recognising their achievements highlighted the strength and innovation of our community.
