Rossendale Borough Council has worked in partnership with Proffitts – Investing in Communities CIC to improve Fairview Recreation Ground, Rawtenstall

The project, that started in October 2024 was delivered by GroundInc and has transformed the site into an inclusive hub suitable for children of all ages.  

The renovated space includes an upgraded play area, new and enhanced play and sports equipment, improved footpaths and fencing, plus additional seating, bins and signage.  New shrubs, bulbs, and wildflowers have been planted to improve the look of the site and to support the area’s biodiversity.

This initiative was funded by Section 106 monies, and led by local people, who provided their thoughts and ideas to improve the space. Their input helped shape the improvements enhancing the overall community involvement.

Lead Member for Communities, Councillor Liz McInnes said: “We are thrilled to see the transformation of Fairview Recreation Ground, providing a fantastic space for families to enjoy the outdoors. This project forms part of the Council’s wider commitment to enhancing public spaces, promoting health and well-being, and fostering pride in our local community.
