March has been a month full of wonderful community events, inspiring performances, and opportunities to meet incredible individuals and organisations across Lancashire
Saturday 1st March – St Mary’s Church, Rawtenstall
I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Rossendale Scout Band’s Annual Patrons Concert, accompanied by my consort, Ian Driver. The evening featured fantastic performances from both the Senior and Junior Bands, as well as a special appearance by Rosa Stamp. This concert was a heartfelt thank you to the band's patrons for their ongoing support in 2024, and I was honoured to present this year’s trophies to some very deserving band members.
Friday 7th March – Chorley Mayoral Ball, Chorley Town Hall
Ian and I attended the Chorley Mayoral Ball, a glamorous evening hosted to raise vital funds for local charities. A highlight of the evening was the charity auction, led by none other than the Speaker of the House of Commons, Mr Lindsay Hoyle.
Sunday 9th March – Dansworks Presentation Evening, The Circle, Bacup
Alongside Cllr. Danielle Ashworth, I had the joy of presenting awards at Dansworks’ Presentation Evening. It was wonderful to see the achievements of students of all ages, from toddlers to adults, including those working toward nationally recognised qualifications.
Wednesday 12th March – “Let’s Go Sing” at Blackpool Winter Gardens
Miss Caitlin Chippendale and I attended this uplifting North West schools concert series, featuring over 5,000 primary school children. Local schools including Bacup Holy Trinity, Stacksteads Primary, St Mary’s, St Peter’s, St Saviour’s, and Tor View gave exceptional performances. A truly magical evening!
Saturday 15th March – West Lancs. Charity Ball, Lancashire Manor Hotel
Ian and I joined fellow civic leaders to support the Mayor of West Lancashire’s charity fundraising event. It was a fantastic evening in aid of worthy causes.
Monday 17th March – Charity Ball Gifts from Carvansons, Haslingden
We visited Carvansons, who have kindly created personalised candles for my upcoming Charity Dinner. It was lovely to meet with Vicki and hear how the final scent—‘Kingsley Rose’, named in memory of my father—was designed by Chairman John Whowell and beautifully labelled in-house.
Friday 21st March – Mayor of Rossendale Charity Dinner Dance, Rawtenstall Masonic Hall
What an incredible night! Over 80 guests came together for the Mayor’s annual fundraising event, featuring a stunning performance by Francesca, a delicious dinner by Tina and her team, and a successful auction and raffle. I’m so grateful for everyone’s support of my chosen charities.
Wednesday 26th March – Lancaster Castle Tour with High Sheriff of Lancashire
Cllr. Michelle Smith and I joined High Sheriff Helen Bingley OBE JP DL for a fascinating tour of the Lancaster Castle and Police Museum Wing, followed by a delightful afternoon tea at the Lancaster University Building.
Thursday 27th March – Community Café at the Unitarian Church, Rawtenstall
This month’s theme at the Unitarian Church’s Community Café was Greece! The event brought together members of the community to enjoy a delicious Greek-themed lunch and learn about another culture in a warm and welcoming space.
