We are responsible for cutting the grass for approx. 55 hectares of open space. We maintain play areas and parks, football and ruby pitches, cemeteries and certain churchyards, bowling greens and grass verges.
The grass-cutting season will usually be between April and October depending on weather and ground conditions. There are some areas that are cut on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
Some grassed areas are kept long to help improve the living landscape.
Areas where bulbs have been planted are uncut for about 6 weeks after they have flowered to ensure the plants flower the following season.
Treatment of edges is usually carried out by chemical weed control.
We don’t collect the grass clippings but will make an attempt to brush/blow the worst of footpaths.
