Funding Summary

Rawtenstall and its immediate surroundings have been selected by the Government to receive £20 million over the next 10 years as part of the Long-Term Plan for Towns initiative. The Town Board, which will be composed of local community leaders, business owners, social enterprise representatives, councillors, council officers, the town’s MP, and a representative of the Police and Crime Commissioner, will oversee the allocation of these funds. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities chose Rawtenstall for this investment in March based on a series of metrics. The board must be established by the beginning of June, providing time to develop a comprehensive plan for the town's regeneration that aligns with the priorities of local residents. The endowment-style funding will be focused on three main themes: infrastructure, town centres, and safety, addressing the issues that matter most to the community.

The funding is avaliable for Rawtenstall, Crawshawbooth and Waterfoot. The Council are waiting final confirmation of the boundary from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities, the proposed boundary is shown below.
